Eddie Fickett House, Reseda, CA
CLIENT: self
This was our first home. a 1950s simple ranch house in Reseda, CA we bought in 1992. We didn’t take digital photos back in those days. I think I have some good old fashioned analog pictures I will have to dig up and scan eventually. For now, here are some scans and plans.
Rehearsal Garage
We converted the garage to a soundproof music and rehearsal recording room – anda party room, of course. This is the overall layout and then elevations for the final look, along with a custom built-in bookshelf that cantalevered off one of the corners. the drum throne was isolated from the concrete floor by being covered on top and the bottom with artificial grass! …And yes, we painted a yellow brick road on the floor from the door to the drum throne.
Along the tops of 2 walls, we hand lettered, in gold sign paint, the paraphrased words of the Carousel of Progress ride theme song written by the Sherman Brothers – and once sung by Walt Disney himself!
“Man has a dream and that’s the start… He follows his dream and that’s the Art…” and “It’s a Great Big Beautiful Tomorrow!”
